Meet famous plants everywhere you walk
"This series is designed to teach students to view the plant world through the herbalist’s lens." - Lise Wolff, RH (AHG), MSc.
These plant walks take place in Minnesota at the northern end of the "Big Woods" ecological region of North America. This is an area where Western herbalism was gifted many herbs from the Indigenous Peoples or from the exploration of the woods. The area is also home to herbs of Northern Europe (UK, Germany, Scandinavia, Poland, temperate parts of Russia) - intentionally or unintentionally brought by settlers.
This online plant walk series covers many traditional plants used in Western herbal medicine. It is worthwhile to know these herbs. This is a cool temperate region. Lise will not cover many of the Mediterranean plants characteristic of southern Europe and Australia.
