Late Summer

The light is changing. Days are getting shorter.  Echos of autumn are in the air, which buzzes with the sound of the cicadas.  Plants are still coming to fruition for us to learn and harvest.  Some we have been watching since the very beginning, like goldenrod. Others just seemed to become easily identifiable a month or two ago. Yet here they all are, thriving in the morning cool and afternoon heat and humidity.

Fall is coming. Just when you thought the harvesting season would end, there is another group we must learn about. The roots. The upper parts of the plants are starting to die back and the roots are storing the plant's energy and medicine to grow the following spring.  Ideally we wait till it is cold outside to harvest those roots. So hang on.  More to come!

Truly remarkable series. Having started in spring; I am now constantly looking around natural areas and seeing all the herbs I can identify. This gives me so much more confidence. Tremendous sharing of energetics, dosages, remedy making, pulse and tongue diagnosis too!
